mobiTOUCH – MT SERVER

The technology and integration core of a mobiTOUCH installation

The MT SERVER provides the connection to the database world and enables access to a database source and to a heterogeneous database landscape.

This means that several database servers can also be accessed simultaneously with the system – and this with different database technologies such as Oracle Database or Microsoft SQL Server. The MT SERVER ensures that on the MT CLIENT and the MT MDE the data from the database sources are uniformly merged and displayed and processed in the same way. The MT SERVER ensures that the data from the database sources are uniformly merged and displayed and processed in the same way.

The MT SERVER offers targeted administration functions for

  • the roll-out and update mechanism of the MT CLIENT (desktop) and MT MDE (mobile)
  • the maintenance of the system

and provides a variety of status information about the connected clients and their operating systems, the version of the installed mobiTOUCH software and on operational data such as session and user. The MT SERVER also supports training and tests in live operation and different usage scenarios such as instances. The support of different usage scenarios (instances) for live operation, training and testing is also a task of the MT SERVER.

With a sophisticated logging mechanism, all process steps and operations can be monitored on the mobile terminals (MT MDE) and on desktop clients (MT CLIENT) can be precisely tracked.

The MT SERVER ensures easy integration into existing IT infrastructures. Individual process steps or entire processes are controlled in batch mode. MT Service and MT SERVER provide batch interfaces interoperatively as well as a script interface. The MT SERVER ensures easy integration into existing IT infrastructures.

The MT SERVER ensures the connection to the mobiTOUCH communication service for the exchange of XML, EDI, VDA, IDoc (and other messages) and docked systems.

The technologies described allow both synchronous and asynchronous communication between mobiTOUCH and other systems outside the existing database communication. The operation of multiple MTock systems is possible.

The operation of multiple MT SERVER and MT services is organised on different computers, providing scalability and flexibility. The servers provide load balancing, organise an even workload or administration operation by relocating of the existing sessions. In this way, availability is increased through equivalent servers in a distributed environment and, in the event of a technical failure of hardware resources.

In addition to robust client-server communication, connection recovery potential is provided at the connection level, which ensures a high level of stability when operating mobile hardware.
